Thomas Kinkade, one of nation’s most popular painters, dies suddenly in Los Gatos at 54 – San Jose Mercury News

Monte Sereno resident and artist Thomas Kinkade holds an oil painting of a home on Shannon Road that he completed recently for a Los Gatos homeowner. The artist will auction off his talents at the Oct. 17 "Tatste of Los Gatos" fundraiser, with the highest bidder getting his or her home or landmark building painted by Kinkade. Flanking Kinkade are oil paitings of Los Gatos High School and N. Santa Cruz Avenue that will be donated to the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department.
