A Model Psychosis

Track 7. The Animals

1943, downstairs.

PLAY

I felt, since the album has been pretty dark and wierd for a few tracks now, we needed a little fun. It's also hard to get much darker after all that darkness, so I thought the irony of a bossa nova was the only way to sing about animal experiments.

In any case, by now you might find yourself becoming aware that the story of LSD is not all hippies and flower power. Some of those experiments were pretty colorful, though.

lyric

doctor cerletti and doctor rothin
got a creature lab downstairs
full of chirps and barks
a sort of Noah's Ark
with every animal in pairs

the hamster thinks he's sliding
the fish are swimming upside-down
if we only knew
what you are going through
i should take your pulse right now

the spider builds a better web
and the cat's afraid of the mouse
and the elephant,
poor old Tusko, his giant heart gave out

in the future we will find out
how we can help their human peers
make the frigid tender
or end a bender
that lasted 20 years

to feed the poor is easy
like mother teresa said
my dear old aunt
or even cary grant
could have a better life ahead

the spider weaves a perfect [builds a better] web
and the cat's afraid of the mouse
and the elephant,
poor old Tusko, his giant heart gave out

we don't have many talkers
in our psychedelic zoo
but the monkeys
(let's see the monkeys)
the whole tribe is in a to-do
'cause that one monkey
don't do monkey say monkey do

This is my alter-ego in the virtual world of Second Life where I perform regularly at Meatspace Lounge (website), the club I co-own with lifelong friend and master artist Tom "Quota Soon" Baumgartner.

Even if you are unable to log into Second Life, you can listen to any of my performances on Meatspace Radio - Just press play on the music player! It's much more fun to create an avatar and interact with me and the audience, but you know what? You can do that anyway! Just click the Meatspace chat button over the player.

You can see some of the fun we have at the Meatspace group on Flickr. Hope to see you in-world very soon!
